ADVANTAGES OF NON-TREATED BENTONITE

STABILITY

  • When added to cement slurry or cement grout, it ensures slurry to be stable by suspending cement particles and sand during the injection and mixing process.
  • Reduces the decomposition of water in the slurry to minimum.

HIGH RESISTANCE

  • When added to cement slurry, it increases the penetration in to the fine granular alluvium thus it avoids the loss of cement.
  • Resistance increases When an aqueous suspension prepared with 6 % natural bentonite, KAR-BEN is injected to a wet sand.
  • It is stable to chemical effects and ground water. When 6 % KAR-BEN content slurry is injected to wet sand ,resistance of mixture increases.

RESISTANCE TO SULPHATE SALTS

  • Mixtures of natural bentonite, KAR-BEN are resistant to sulphate salts.
  • In cases of high content of salt and lime in ground waters, it works out when used with phosphates and silicates.

RAPID GELLING

  • If 5 % sodium silicate is added to KAR-BEN mixture, beginning of gelling at an accelerating pace is observed after injection.

PENETRATION AND SUSPENSION

  • During the filling of big cavities by clay-cement slurry, if less quantity of KAR-BEN is added to slurry, penetration and suspension capability of suspension highly increases.

LOW FRICTION

  • The natural bentonite , KAR-BEN is used as a lubricant in plunging the pontoons, in shear walls and in diaphragm walls and reduces friction.

IMPERMEABILITY WALL AND ITS REPAIR

  • It repairs the cracks on walls constructed to prevent the water leakages. It provides cement slurry oiliness and increases the penetration of slurry to fine cracks. In order to fill the cracks 1/1 ratio natural bentonite KAR-BEN – water mixture is used by rolling up with trowel and then coating with tar.
  • Natural Bentonite KAR-BEN can be used in filling cracks by mixing with a neutral organic fluid like kerosene,the gaseous mixture forms a thick and strong gel as it contacts to water.
  • For invisible cracks, a mixture containing 5 % natural bentonite KAR-BEN is pumped to cracks by a special injector.
  • Besides mixtures of KAR-BEN+Cement+Water can be used in injections of alluviums having permeability less than 0,1 cm/sn , by adding chemical additives.
